Does your cat have trouble with constant cracking and splitting of nails then it’s high time you pay attention to them and have it trim regularly. You might also want to prevent them from scratching you, your furniture, appliances and children inside the house. It is very easy to trim those nails if you train your cat and know when, where and how to do it. Cat grooming is an essential habit pet owners should impose with their pet cats.

Start training your pet to enjoy her nails cut as a kitten. Gently caress your cat’s paws ever now and then to help her get use of being held before any trimming is done. Give your pet a special treat one that she receives only during nail trimming. Do it when your pet is calm or drowsy to avoid scratching accidents or bad experience for your pet.

Make your pet fall asleep in your lap, the ground or even at the table for easy access of its paw. Hold the paw in a single hand; gently hold the toe pad to prolong the claw. Avoid cutting near the pink tissue within the claw. Cutting into it is going to trigger pain not to mention bleeding. In case your cat became restless and jumpy stop the task and complete it later. If it’s possible clip a nail or two every day until the entire task is done. You can also go to a skilled groomer or a doctor four to five times a year to have a cat pedicure.

Hold the clipper in a vertical position to make sure that the claw is clip from down to up. Don’t panic if you rapidly cut the claw it will bleed for a second but will stop immediately. Clipping in a vertical position will avoid more breaking and splitting of the nails. Many men and women hold the clippers at right angles to the claw, thus trimming throughout the claw. This tends to create far more damage than splitting or fraying. Clip your pet’s nails every ten to fourteen days to permit new ones to grow. Cat grooming is important to have a healthier pet in your household.
